Is Preservely free to use?
Yes — Preservely is free to download and use, with full on-device pantry tracking and no account required. Preservely Pro is an optional subscription that adds barcode scanning, AI features, and no ads. You don't need an account to buy or use Pro — creating one is optional, and only extends your Pro access and pantry sync to your other devices.
How do I add a grocery item?
Tap the + button on your pantry list, enter the item's name, category, and expiration date, then save. That's it — the item shows up in your pantry right away.
How does barcode scanning work?
Barcode scanning is a Preservely Pro feature. Once you're subscribed, grant camera access when prompted, then scan a product's barcode and Preservely automatically fills in its name and category for you.
How are expiration dates determined?
You can enter an expiration date yourself when adding an item. If you're a Preservely Pro member and leave the date blank, our AI will estimate one for you — treat these estimates as a rough guide rather than exact, and feel free to adjust them. You can edit any item's date at any time.
How do recipe recommendations work?
Preservely uses AI to suggest recipes based on what's already in your pantry, prioritizing items that are expiring soon so less food goes to waste.
How do I delete my data?
You can delete individual pantry items anytime right in the app — swipe on an item in your list, or open it and tap "Delete Item." To delete your whole account and everything stored with it, open Settings and tap Delete Account. That erases your account, pantry, saved recipes and sync history immediately and permanently. Note that it does not cancel a Preservely Pro subscription — Apple bills that, so cancel it in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions.
